Point Breeze / Oak Orchard fishing charters
A trolling port in spring and a wading river in autumn. Oak Orchard Creek is one of the most productive tributaries on the American shoreline, and Point Breeze sits right on its mouth. That single fact gives this port two entirely separate seasons and two entirely separate kinds of angler.
The water
What Pt. Breeze is good for
In spring the creek plume does what creek plumes do here — warms the shallows, draws bait, and holds brown trout in close. April and May are boat months, working eight to thirty feet with boards and small hardware, with the first kings appearing on the break by mid-May.
By late August the direction of travel reverses. Mature Chinook stage off the mouth and then run the creek, and from September into November Oak Orchard carries one of the heaviest salmon runs in New York. Steelhead follow, and the creek fishes well into the winter and back out the other side in March and April.
The practical upshot is that Point Breeze is worth booking twice. A spring trip and an autumn trip out of the same harbour are genuinely different holidays.

Autumn if you want the biggest fish and do not mind crowds; spring if you want comfortable weather, short runs and steady action. If you can only pick one and you have never done it, book the fall run.
Is the fall creek fishing from a boat or on foot?
Both work. Drift boats cover more water and get you away from bank pressure; wading is cheaper and perfectly effective if you know where to stand. Guides here do both.
